Peace Keepers not welcome in Capas, Tarlac

The arrival of the pinoy peace keepers from Liberia (on November 11)has set preparation in the part of the AFP to isolate them for quarantine. The 138-strong Philippine peace keepers were pulled out by the government because of the Ebola virus outbreak. This virus has already killed 4,900 in West Africa and still spreading.

On the other hand, the initial destination was announced to be from Liberia to Capas, Tarlac. Capas, Tarlac is where Camp O'Donnel is located, along with the AFP Peace Keeping Operations Center.

However, the local government of Tarlac incisted on the initial plans of the AFP, concerning the safety of the community. They were greeted with protest coming from bussiness groups and local executives. As Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc before said on Tuesday that the destination is still tentative. Consequently, the Chief of Staff decided to put them on a very secluded place.


The final destination has been decided. The quarantine procedures was planned to reside in the Paradise near Corregidor "The Caballo Island". Caballo Island will serve as a temporary shelter for the 138-strong Filipino Peace Keepers for the quarantine procedures. The AFP has coordinated to the local officials for the safety of the community.
